Firelight Lodge at Silver Star Mountain




As far as winter wonderlands go, it’s tough to find a better family friendly getaway than Silver Star Mountain in Vernon, BC. Over the last 20 years I have had front row seats to its transformation from an cozy ski hill know mostly by the local Okanagan population to one of the biggest and best family resorts on the planet.  With almost 1120ft of vertical and 115 runs varying between gentle-sloped rolling beginner runs to steep and deep double blacks, there is terrain to please any level of skier and boarder. Silver Star also succeeds as one of the best Nordic areas you’ll find in BC.  It’s 40km of cross country trails are well known for being among the best groomed in the world, and teams from around the world descend on the mountain every year to train for World Championship and Olympic events.  

It’s not just the riding that makes Silver Star such a great place to visit either. It’s Victorian style Village  is located right next to the ski area and is thoughtfully laid out with everything you need in a compact area. Retail to rental, fine dining to pub food, everything you need is located within an area not much larger than a city block. From the village you can also find exciting things to do when you need to take a day off from the slopes. Horse-drawn carriage tours, snowmobile excursions, and snowshoe hikes are just some of the other ways to spend your time and experience this stunning mountain resort.  

Silver Star is a place you will want to come back to, a place you will build memories and a place that will give your family the experiences that last a lifetime. To get the most out of your winter getaway, you will want a modern, warm and cozy ski in/ski out home to call your own, and for that, FireLight Lodge is second to none. Ideally situated at the west end of the Village, just steps away from all the action on the Pond and Tube Town, it is the first and only building of lodge homes to be located beside picturesque Brewer's Pond.
